VICTORY at the HOUSE of PERSECUTION
Jeannette Tossounian was proud to be the chosen artist to paint her rendition of the great Canadian World War One poem “In Flanders Field” to honour war veterans.
This commission came on time for the 100th Anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge in April 2017.
In November 2016, Jeannette Tossounian was proud to have newly appointed Senator Kim Pate acquire her oil painting of the Peace Tower for her new office on Parliament Hill. Featured below is Tossounian with Senator Pate after delivering the painting to its new home.
Oil on canvas – 2015
This painting of the Peace Tower was painted as part of Jeannette Tossounian’s on-going ‘en plein air’ series of the Parliament Buildings. It was painted on November 11, 2015 after Tossounian placed her poppy on The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at The National War Memorial in Ottawa in remembrance of her grandfather who fought with the French in the Great Wars after assisting in freeing his people from being slaughtered in the Armenian Genocide. The painting was acquired by Senator Kim Pate in November 2016 and is hung in her office on Parliament Hill. It was also used as the cover picture for Senator Pate’s 2016 Holiday cards.
